AC Milan vs Fiorentina Full Match Reports

Théo Hernandez’s decisive penalty marked the end of AC Milan’s four-match winless streak in Serie A (SA) as they secured a 1-0 victory against Fiorentina, extending their streak of four successive home wins against La Viola.

The San Siro witnessed a scrappy opening period where neither team could assert dominance convincingly. A rare moment of brilliance came from Christian Pulisic, who embarked on a burst forward, only to be fouled cynically by Arthur Melo, earning him a yellow card. However, the lack of quality on display was evident, highlighted by Fiorentina’s Alfred Duncan’s mismanagement of a chance from Fabiano Parisi’s cross.

Pulisic, once again, injected excitement with an instinctive strike in the 23rd minute, which was directed straight at Pietro Terracciano and tipped over the crossbar. Towards the end of a frustrating half, Tommaso Pobega forced Terracciano into a crucial save with a header, sparking life into the hosts. Hernandez then sprinted through, brought down by Parisi, resulting in a penalty that the Frenchman calmly converted, lifting the spirits at the San Siro.

The second period saw immediate action at both ends, with Samuel Chukwueze’s header saved by Terracciano and Mike Maignan rushing out to thwart Lucas Beltrán. Fiorentina pressed for an equalizer, with Nicolás González firing wide and later delivering a cross that deflected off Fikayo Tomori onto the post. Despite Fiorentina’s efforts, Milan held on, with Maignan denying Rolando Mandragora’s close-range shot with his face, securing Milan’s return to the top three in the SA table. Fiorentina, on the other hand, suffered their fourth loss in five SA matches.
