Borussia Dortmund vs PSG Full Match Reports
Paris Saint-Germain’s thrilling 1-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund proved sufficient to secure their passage to the UEFA Champions League (UCL) knockout stages, joining the Group F leaders in this prestigious phase for the 12th consecutive season.
While Die Schwarzgelben’s position in the knockout stages was assured before this final group match, there was still much at stake as they aimed to clinch the group’s top spot. Both teams continued to press forward fearlessly, with Marius Wolf and Kang-in Lee missing the target from clear opportunities at either end. Niklas Süle then executed a miraculous recovery to thwart Kylian Mbappé after PSG’s talisman outmaneuvered Gregor Kobel.
Despite Les Parisiens gaining the upper hand, the disbelief persisted. Bradley Barcola curled an effort that struck the post, and Randal Kolo Muani sprinted through, only to direct his shot wide. Dortmund continued to create chances, with Marco Reus and Salih Özcan’s potent strikes denied by Gianluigi Donnarumma. Karim Adeyemi couldn’t convert the rebound from Adeyemi’s save. Each team had one more golden opportunity before the break, but the half concluded goalless as Kolo Muani was thwarted by Kobel, and Mats Hummels headed wide with the final touch.
The second period showed no signs of a slowdown, and the breakthrough finally came in the 51st minute. Niclas Füllkrug exploited PSG’s defensive lapse, setting up Adeyemi, who slotted his effort in off the inside of the post for his second UCL goal of the season. Warren Zaïre-Emery rekindled Les Parisiens’ hopes just five minutes later, firing a strike past Kobel with a slight deflection off Adeyemi. The match refused to lose its intensity, and although Mbappé believed he had given PSG the lead and secured the group’s top spot, he was caught offside by the slimmest of margins.
Barcola had the best chance for a late winner but fired straight at Kobel from a tight angle. Dortmund halted a three-game losing streak across all competitions, securing the top spot in UCL Group F. PSG extended their unbeaten run to six competitive matches and, more crucially, advanced in the competition with AC Milan defeating Newcastle United.
Man of the Match: Warren Zaïre-Emery (Paris Saint-Germain).
